First patient receives SenoMune™-0257, a pioneering immunotherapy designed to eliminate aging cells and advance treatment of age-related diseases

, /PRNewswire/ -- Immorta Bio, Inc. today announced the first human administration of SenoMune™-0257, an investigational immunotherapy designed to help the immune system recognize and eliminate senescent cells, often called "zombie cells," that accumulate with aging and contribute to numerous age-related diseases.

The first patient was treated on October 29, 2026, in Mexico as part of an independently conducted, investigator-initiated clinical study involving patients with advanced cancer at Integrative Cancer Centers of America (ICCA). Immorta Bio developed and supplied the investigational peptide, while independent investigators are responsible for conducting the study and managing patient care.

SenoMune™-0257 is a proprietary nine-amino-acid peptide designed to stimulate immune recognition and elimination of senescent cells. By targeting these cells, the SenoMune™ platform aims to help restore youthful biology as a therapeutic engine, with potential applications across neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, metabolic, musculoskeletal, immune-inflammatory, and fibrotic diseases, as well as organ failure, cancer, wound healing, and systemic aging.

Advanced cancer was deliberately selected as the initial clinical setting to demonstrate the platform's senolytic capabilities, with the objective of expanding into multiple diseases of aging.

SenoMune™-0257 builds upon Immorta Bio's earlier multivalent cellular immunotherapy, SenoVax™, and related preclinical programs demonstrating activity across cancer, organ failure, diabetic wound healing, frailty, and accelerated aging models. Developed through AI-assisted peptide identification and selection, SenoMune™-0257 represents an evolution to a defined, scalable peptide platform with broad therapeutic applications.

Thomas E. Ichim, PhD, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Immorta Bio, commented:
"To our knowledge, this represents the first human administration of an immunotherapy specifically designed to eliminate senescent cells. Unlike conventional small-molecule senolytics, our approach harnesses the immune system to target dysfunctional cells, potentially creating an entirely new class of therapeutics for diseases of aging."

Gilberto Lopes, MD, Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Miami and a member of Immorta Bio's Strategic Advisory Board, stated:
"Advanced cancer provides an important setting to investigate this innovative approach. Demonstrating senolytic activity in humans could have implications far beyond oncology, potentially establishing an entirely new therapeutic paradigm: targeting the underlying biology of aging through a platform applicable to multiple diseases."

Boris N. Reznik, PhD, Chairman and CEO of Immorta Bio, commented:
"For decades, medicine has treated diseases of aging one by one. We believe the next frontier is treating the biology of aging itself.

"We deliberately selected advanced cancer to demonstrate SenoMune's senolytic capabilities, but our ambition extends far beyond oncology. Our vision is to restore youthful biology and harness it as a therapeutic engine capable of addressing multiple diseases of aging.

"This first human administration marks a defining milestone. I am enormously proud of our research and development team, led by my co-founder, Dr. Thomas Ichim, whose scientific vision, ingenuity, and dedication made this achievement possible.

"We deeply appreciate the independent clinical investigators and, above all, the patients whose participation makes this clinical trial possible.

"We see this as a major step toward making the dream of dramatically longer, healthier human lives a medical reality."

About Immorta Bio
Immorta Bio, Inc. develops two complementary therapeutic platforms: SenoMune™, designed to eliminate senescent cells through immune-mediated mechanisms, and StemCellRevivify™, focused on restoring regenerative capacity through youthful cellular therapies.

Together, these platforms aim to restore youthful biology as a therapeutic engine, advancing the company's mission:

Treating Diseases of Aging and Treating Aging as Disease™
SenoMune™-0257 is investigational, and its safety and efficacy in humans have not been established.
