Nation's leading food allergy clinic network opens its fourth New York-area location in Great Neck, led by board-certified allergists Dr. Amanda Schneider and Dr. Erin Banta
, /PRNewswire/ -- Long Island families living with food allergies can now see dedicated food allergy specialists in Great Neck. The new clinic from Latitude Food Allergy Care, the nation's leading network of food allergy clinics, is led by board-certified allergists Dr. Amanda Schneider and Dr. Erin Banta, both of whom previously practiced at NYU Langone Health.
Latitude helps turn "I can't eat that" into a life-changing "I can." Care at Latitude means a child enjoys the birthday cake with friends, a family cooks one dinner for everyone, a college student shares a pizza and travels with more confidence. Latitude's results make foods once off-limits part of everyday life.
"As food allergy moms, we built Latitude to be the place we wished we'd had when our own kids were diagnosed," said Kimberley Yates, co-founder and CEO of Latitude Food Allergy Care. "From the moment families walk in, it should feel welcoming, not clinical. Kids play, parents swap stories with other families who truly get it, and everyone knows they don't have to go through this alone. Demand for that kind of care keeps growing across New York, and opening on Long Island means more families can find it right in their own community."
Dr. Amanda Schneider is a board-certified allergist and immunologist and pediatrician who practiced for the last decade at NYU Langone Health, where she helped lead oral immunotherapy (OIT) treatment in Manhattan. She earned her medical degree from New York Medical College, completed her pediatric residency at NYU School of Medicine and her allergy and immunology fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has been a co-investigator on more than a dozen allergy and immunology studies with a focus on food allergy diagnosis, treatment and prevention, with published research on biologic treatments and early egg introduction.
"I've spent my career caring for food allergy families in New York, and I've seen how much changes when a family finally gets a clear diagnosis and a real plan," said Dr. Schneider. "At Latitude, I can take the time each family needs, from that first conversation about their history through every step of treatment. Being able to offer that care right here on Long Island is something I'm really proud of."
Dr. Erin Banta is a board-certified allergist and immunologist with more than 15 years of experience in the New York City region. She previously practiced at NYU Langone Long Island, where she cared for patients and trained future allergists, and she serves as vice president of the Long Island Allergy and Asthma Society. She earned her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency and allergy and immunology fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The Great Neck clinic treats patients of all ages, from infants to adults. Services include skin testing, in-office blood draws, oral food challenges, early food introduction for infants, OIT for single or multiple allergens and Xolair (omalizumab), an injectable biologic that can be used on its own or alongside OIT. Across Latitude's network, 94 percent of patients who start OIT complete treatment and can safely eat foods they once had to avoid. That rate rises to 98 percent for children under 4.
The clinic is located at 935 Northern Blvd., Suite 303-B, Great Neck, and serves families across Nassau County and Queens. Appointments are available now. Latitude is in-network with select PPO and EPO plans in New York. The Great Neck clinic joins Latitude's locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains.
