Chronic disease drives roughly 90% of U.S. health care spending, according to the CDC, and much of it is shaped by risk factors that go unaddressed: blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, tobacco use, and missed preventive care. Most organizations already invest in screenings, benefits, and programs, but the gap is getting people to use them. WellRight was recognized for closing that gap.

"Most organizations already invest in screenings, benefits, and wellbeing programs, but the gap is getting people to use them," said Zei. "This recognition from PHA reflects the work our team and our customers do every day to find health risks early and keep participants engaged long enough to change it."

How WellRight Supports Better Population Health Outcomes

WellRight connects early risk identification, personalized support, and human coaching in one platform, with capabilities that:

  • Identify risk. Participants complete an NCQA-certified Health Risk Assessment and biometric screening, either onsite or with their own physician. WellRight holds NCQA Wellness & Health Promotion certifications for both Health Appraisal (WHP 5) and Self-Management Tools (WHP 7).
  • Personalize the path. WellPaths place participants into condition-specific tracks for diabetes, heart health, weight management, anxiety, and depression, delivering relevant education, activities, and rewards.
  • Coach. National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC)-certified coaches support participants and their families by phone, email, text, webchat, or video, and coordinate referrals to other health management resources.
  • Guide. WellChat, WellRight's conversational health navigation guide, helps participants navigate benefits, close care gaps, and complete program activities.
  • Measure. Administrators use population-level reporting to see risk by biometric and condition, compare results with prior years and WellRight's book-of-business benchmark, and target outreach where risk is highest.
  • Reach everyone. PreventiveCORE gives distributed workforces and members with limited digital access a simplified entry point built on the same NCQA-certified assessment.

Results Across WellRight's Customer Base

WellRight serves 846 active accounts across 32 industries, including employers, health systems, health plans and TPAs, and government programs. Across its book of business, approximately 59% of participants complete the Health Risk Assessment, 68% complete biometric screening, and 61% engage in the program. Participants report 93% satisfaction with the platform, and 99.8% of coaching participants are satisfied or very satisfied.

At one multi-state health system with more than 40,000 employees, a three-year analysis estimated $89.5 million in total value against $50.5 million in program cost, or $39.1 million in net savings. This health system's analysis also credits increased preventive care and biometric screening utilization with about $11.9 million of that value.

"As health plans and ACOs take on more accountability for chronic disease, engagement is what turns funding and clinical programs into outcomes," says Zei. "That is where WellRight focuses."
