New offerings help eligible patients explore treatment, coverage and savings options, including Medicare GLP-1 Bridge participants and those with commercial insurance
, /PRNewswire/ -- Walgreens today announced enhancements to its weight management services, including expanded access to virtual care that helps eligible patients navigate insurance coverage for GLP-1 medications through coverage eligibility checks, prior authorization support and access to medications covered by the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program or commercial insurance.* New offerings also include additional pharmacist support for patients starting therapy, an enhanced online resource hub, and access to coverage and savings information through Rx Savings Finder.
Through Walgreens Weight Management, patients can connect online with a doctor or nurse practitioner and, if eligible, receive a prescription for an FDA-approved GLP-1 weight loss medication.** Weight Management visits are $49, with no subscription required (medication cost not included). Patients already taking a GLP-1 medication for weight loss may also use virtual care clinicians to support ongoing treatment.

Expanded Virtual Care Access and Support
Walgreens Weight Management can now help patients navigate self-pay and commercial insurance options for their medications, including checking commercial insurance prescription coverage and completing prior authorizations, if needed. In addition, patients who are eligible for CMS' Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program can also now connect with virtual healthcare providers for support with eligibility, prior authorizations, and setting up a treatment plan.
Additional Pharmacist Support After Prescription Pickup
For many patients, questions arise once they begin treatment. After prescription pickup, Walgreens pharmacists will reach out to all patients who start filling a GLP-1 medication to answer common questions about the medication, share educational resources and connect them with additional support available through Walgreens. The outreach is designed to help patients better understand their therapy and stay engaged in their care. Together, these services help patients manage and navigate barriers to GLP-1 medications, such as access, affordability and ongoing support.
