Students can check their positioning and interpretation against an AI screening report on each study they submit.
, /PRNewswire/ -- Vetology Innovations (Vetology), which provides AI screening reports and teleradiology consultations for veterinary practices, today opened its AI screening subscription to veterinary schools and veterinary technology programs free of charge.
More than 163 million dogs and cats live in US households.¹ Only about 1,100 veterinarians hold a board certification in diagnostic imaging through the ACVR or ECVDI.² That's roughly one for every 150,000 dogs and cats, before counting horses, birds, exotics or any other species. Specialist training takes years, and that gap isn't closing quickly enough.
"As a radiologist-owned company, we care deeply about the diagnostic imaging needs of busy clinicians. It's important to us that the tools we build serve veterinary teams today and in the years to come. We value your professional input, and we want the relationships we form to be part of the road ahead."
-- Eric Goldman, President, Vetology
Students whose education includes the latest imaging technology will gain skill in evaluating how and when AI belongs in their clinical workflow, while instructors are on hand to answer questions and guide their approach. They will carry that judgment into practice as AI screening becomes more common in veterinary imaging.
Each study a student submits builds three key skills: patient positioning, radiograph interpretation, and cross-referencing reports against the images and patient signalment. A well-positioned, well-exposed study produces a more useful report, so students see the effect of their technique case by case. For students who learn best by doing rather than by reading or listening to lectures, comparing the AI report with the images and with their own interpretation offers a hands-on way to build those skills.
Vetology is also soon to be releasing another tool that will support students as they develop their imaging skills. "Perfect Shot" is designed to gently point out a missing view or a positioning issue while there's still time to retake. A case list also lets users work through flagged studies, which suits programs that teach image quality as its own skill. Perfect Shot is coming soon, and Vetology will announce availability closer to release. It will be included as a free add-on when available.
The free subscription covers Vetology's AI screening reports; teleradiology services are not included. Deans, program directors and imaging faculty can sign up at vetology.net/contact-us.
