, /PRNewswire/ -- HealthEdge Investment Partners, LLC ("HealthEdge"), a lower middle market private equity firm focused exclusively on healthcare, announced today that it has completed a majority investment in The Columbus Organization ("Columbus" or the "Company"), a national provider of care management, professional clinical staffing, and quality improvement services supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aging-related needs, and other complex health concerns. HealthEdge acquired its interest from CareSource.
Founded in 1984, Columbus partners with state agencies, healthcare organizations, individuals, and families to help navigate complex medical, behavioral, social, and community-based services and supports. The Company's field-based care management platform combines locally embedded teams with centralized quality, compliance, training, technology, and data capabilities.
The partnership will support Columbus's next phase of growth as it continues to scale its platform and broaden its impact across the populations and communities it serves. HealthEdge will work alongside Columbus's management team to support these initiatives while preserving the Company's person-centered model and longstanding commitment to quality.
"Columbus has always been focused on helping people with complex needs live more independent and meaningful lives," said Jeff Klimaski, President & CEO of Columbus. "We have continued to expand our capabilities, enter new markets, and invest in the people, technology, and data infrastructure that support high-quality service. HealthEdge understands both our mission and our operating model, and we are excited to partner with them again as we extend our reach to more individuals, families, states, and healthcare partners."
HealthEdge previously partnered with Columbus from 2016 through 2021, giving the firm a longstanding relationship with the Company and many members of its leadership team.
"Columbus is a differentiated healthcare services platform with deep expertise, durable relationships, and a strong reputation for quality and execution," said Brian Anderson, Managing Partner of HealthEdge. "We have known Jeff and the Columbus team for years and have seen firsthand the strength of their operating model." Added HealthEdge Partner Scott Heberlein, "We believe Columbus is well positioned for continued growth, and we are excited to partner with them again as they build on that strong foundation."
"The Columbus Organization has built a strong reputation for delivering person-centered services to people with complex needs, and this partnership positions the company well for its next phase of growth," said Sanjoy Musunuri, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at CareSource. "We are proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to continuing our relationship, united by a commitment to helping people live healthier, more independent lives." CareSource retained a minority equity interest in Columbus as part of the transaction, reflecting its continued confidence in the Company and its long-term growth potential.
